Sheath Rot

SYMPTOMS

Discoloration: The flag leaf sheath will discolor. Lesions: Irregular or oblong spots with dark reddish-brown margins and a gray center will appear on the uppermost leaf sheath. Rotting: The leaf sheath that encloses the young panicles will rot. Fungal growth: A whitish powdery growth of spores and hyphae will appear inside the affected sheaths and young panicles. Panicle damage: The panicle may remain within the sheath or only partially emerge. If the panicle doesn't emerge, it will rot
